Perry County Nursing Home Celebrates Eden Registry
The
two year journey for culture change by the committed, caring pioneers
at Perry County Nursing Home led to another important celebration this
month. On September 15th, 20003, at a huge celebration at the home, Perry
County was presented with their registry tree, becoming the only registered
Eden Alternative home in the state of Alabama!
Staff, residents, board and family members, as well as local dignitaries
honored the fine, sacred work being done for and with the elders at Perry
County. There is a spirit at PCNH that makes every moment spent there
a pleasure. It is always full of wonderful surprises for staff, residents,
and visitors!
Perry
County's seven Eden Associates have been active leaders in the Eden journey
not only at their home, but have provided Eden leadership in Alabama by
sharing their story at state and regional conferences. Just two weeks
prior to the Eden Tree celebration, Perry County was honored at the Alabama
Best Practices conference in Birmingham with their beautiful and creative
presentation of their "Neighborhood" organizational design which
is part of their implementation of Eden Alternative principles. Also,
on September 17th, Sharon Phillips, Eden Associate and Assistant Administrator,
impressed over 100 participants of the Southeast Alabama Area Agency on
Aging conference in Dothan with the Perry County Eden story. You might
also notice that the Eden Alternative Region 15 newsletter was created
and sponsored by Perry County. This is exceptional, dedicated leadership!
PCNH
is located in Marion, Alabama. For information about Eden in Alabama and
