September 22, 2003 was a very special day at the Athens Heritage Home in Athens, GA. Staff, elders, families, guests and dignitaries gathered with Dr. William Thomas and Regional Coordinator, Sheridan Black to receive a visit and recognition for becoming a Registered Eden Alternative home. Dr. Thomas was in Athens to present the keynote speech at the Georgia Gerontological Society conference and was able to share some of his time and wisdom with the folks at Athens Heritage. Ms. Grovene Burton, President of the Resident Council, received the tree plaque from Dr. Thomas on behalf of the elders and staff of Athens Heritage Home. Ms. Burton will celebrate her 101st birthday on November 31! Athens Heritage has been on their Eden journey for over three years and have now become the third registered Eden home in the state of Georgia. Congratulations and welcome to the Eden family!!
