has over 20 years experience as a Recreational Therapy clinician, consultant, and manager primarily in long term care. Her experiences include a broad range of clinical, supervisory, management, administrative and consultation functions in Recreation, Quality of Life and Social services within publicly and privately owned health care corporations and consulting firms. This experience has honed her skills in developing and implementing facility Quality of Life policies and procedures, training programs, Quality Indicators and assessments, and developing effective and efficient documentation systems for compliance. She is also a skilled trainer and speaker at seminars, conferences and facilities across the nation. She has a special passion for the long term care Culture Change concepts and philosophies and has taken an active role in learning, teaching, implementing and supporting Culture Change initiatives in multiple states.
Ellen Robertson, MSW
has over 30 years experience working in Long-term Care management and education. She received her Masters in Social Work in 1978 with an emphasis in Health Care Management and Medical Social Work. She then obtained her Nursing Home Administrator license and spent the next five years working as a Nursing Home Administrator in Georgia.
She has served as Corporate Director of Social Work and Recreation Services for a national, publicly owned Nursing Home Corporation where she developed the social service and recreation programs and managed consultation support services to facilities in 33 states. Work included program development, regulatory compliance, continuing training and skills development of staff, and development of the company Quality Improvement standards.
Ellen served on the JCAHO expert panel for the development of sub-acute standards and co-presented the seminar on Behavior Management at the subsequent AHCA annual symposium. She wrote the scripts for the RAI video series for Briggs Corporation and co-authored the Briggs RAP Modules. She is a Certified Eden Alternative Associate and continues to share her expertise and knowledge with Long-term Care staff in education and consultation support.
Personal life experiences have added an important and profound dimension to Ellen's impressive professional career. When her adored father became terminally ill with cancer, she moved both he and her mother into her home and became the primary care giver of her father through his terminal illness and death. Her mother now lives in a long term care facility and Ellen assumes the role of primary family support person. This offers a new and enlightening perspective to her role and relationship with long term care services.
Ellen lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband Greg, two daughters, and her two beloved cats. She and her family enjoy weekend sailing outings as often as possible in addition to numerous other family activities.

Sheri Bankston, CTRS
has provided quality consultant and educator services in long term care consistently over her 20 year career. Her experience includes provision of recreational therapy and behavioral consultation support services to long-term care facilities, Assisted Living dementia care units and senior behavioral health facilities. She has proven experience in program development and management of specialized Dementia care units and facilities. She has successfully opened and directed services in special care units, and served as Quality Improvement Coordinator. She was instrumental in developing and teaching the first Mississippi Licensure approved Activity Course for Activity Professionals in long-term care facilities and assisted in opening several of Mississippi’s first licensed dementia units. She is also a skilled trainer and speaker at seminars, conferences and facilities throughout the Southeast.
Sheri received her Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS, in 1984 graduating with honors and was designated “Outstanding Young Woman of America” .
In 2007, Sheri was selected to serve on the NCTRC 2007 Item Writing committee
to construct potential questions for the NCTRC National Certification Exam.
She was also published in the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, Division of Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementia Conference Booklet “Best Practices In Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care”.
Sheri serves as contracted consultant for StarLife Services & Resources, Inc., specializing in Dementia training and consultation. She lives in Jackson, Mississippi.
